They dance before they learn there is anything that isn’t music. ~William Stafford
Last week, Chloe Jane had her first ballet recital. People literally came from miles away to see her–well at least her grandparents drove that far. Chloe Jane accessorized her tights, leotard and tutu with kitten ears and tail for a rousing rendition of “The Waltzing Cat.” I don’t know how the routine fares against other arrangements, but I can tell you the four-year-olds performed in front of a standing-room-only audience. Chloe Jane worked hard on her little cat routine. As she often told us at breakfast, “Ballet is hard. Playball is not hard.”
There is a link at the end of the post to my SmugMug gallery for some additional photos. Also, I’ve included a video of the “The Waltzing Cat” at the bottom of the post (I was busy doing stills and video–fortunately my camera does both). I know the video doesn’t show the entire stage and all the dancers doing the routine, but when Chloe Jane was up on the stage, she was the only one I saw.
For more photos of the recital, check out the SmugMug Gallery.
Watching Chloe Jane dance at her first recital was an absolute delight! If you look at the picture of the audience you will see the look of absolute joy on the faces of the grandparents who loved every moment of it. This is not only pride in Chloe Jane and our deep love for her, but the absolute joy in watching her perform gracefully and dance so well. Her beauty in the pictures is stunning and her recital an absolute delight!
