Last Saturday, Cara had a party for her third birthday. For weeks, she has been wanting to have a unicorn-themed birthday party. In addition to some of her pre-school friends, she had some special guests come to her party. Holly flew in from Ft. Worth. She stayed for a few days and both girls enjoyed having their Texas aunt in the house to play with and regale with tales of their adventures, real and imagined. Also, a couple of the girls’ favorite people, Papa and Mimi, came to town from Tennessee to spend time with Cara and Chloe Jane. You’ll see some painted faces in the photos because Grandpa Heinzman decorated the faces of the birthday guests (and even a few parents). Some more favorites; Grandma and Poppop, came to Atlanta from North Carolina to wish Cara a happy third birthday. Grandpa Fife participated in the party by doing a reading of “Unicorn Wings” to all the pres-school birthday guests. We want to thank everyone who came. Cara was very happy that you were there.
The party started with bubbles and face painting on the screened porch followed by coloring unicorns inside; pin the horn on the unicorn; story time and the opening of the unicorn pinata. The kids all ate some chicken strips and fruit and then Ruth brought out the unicorn cake complete with rainbow. I think Cara’s favorite part of the party was the smarties that came out of the pinata. She had about five packets of them even though I kept asking her why she was bothering with the smarties when we had birthday cake!
There is a short video at the end of the post to help get you in a birthday mood.
