One morning while at the cabin in Highlands, we decided to hike up the hill. In the cabin we were staying in, there is a painting over the fireplace of an old cabin and we told the kids that we might find a lost cabin on our journey like the one in the painting. In fact, at the top of the hill, there is the oldest (and smallest) cabin on the property.

Along the way, the kids were excited to find a waterfall.
The right walking stick proved to be an important accessory for a successful search.
At the top, we found the Lost Cabin!!!
. . . and there was much rejoicing!
Not only did our beautiful tour guide help us find the lost cabin, she also pointed out important details like a deer feeder in the woods.
Near the cabin, we found a small barn for storing firewood.
It turned out to be a great place for a snack! Our trusty tour guide packed cookies!!
Our tour guide must have some Cherokee in her. Here she is pointing out deer tracks to the kids.
