The summer is not over until we say it’s over!  This year we took our beach vacation a little late.   The kids had already been in school for a few weeks, but they were given a Fall Break and the weather in Florida was still warm.

We rented a condo on Okaloosa Island–a barrier island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin.  The condo was right on the beach with beautiful views of the ocean.  The water was emerald green and crystal clear.  In addition to the beach, the kids had a number of pools to play in.  The condo had a large pool of its own, but as guests, we also had access to a Splashground immediately next to the condo and a Lazy River that was attached to our condo by a pedestrian bridge.

We were within walking distance of a boardwalk area that had a few restaurants.  Here we are at the Crab Trap.  It was close enough that on some occasions, we walked along the beach and came in from the shore to eat lunch.  No shoes, no shirt, no problem!

Before going back to the beach, the kids couldn’t let a playground go unplayed upon.

Between Fort Walton Beach and Destin, we had plenty of restaurant options.

This is the view from our window.  It was great to have coffee in the morning on the balcony or a glass of wine at night.  To get the to the beach, we just had to walk a few yards and we were there!
