On the weekend after Independence Day, we gathered in the mountains of Asheville for a much overdue family reunion. Of course, for all the time this family has spent in and around the Biltmore Estate, the day had to start there. We visited the Biltomore House and then had a picnic at the Pavillion at Deer Park restaurant. After the picnic, we visited Grandma’s house. The house had changed colors and the white wooden fences were long gone, but it still had an unmistakable familiarity despite the millions of dollars that went into renovating the farmcote. I have to say though even after the million dollar renovations, it still looked better when Grandma lived there–no question. Everyone had a great weekend. Let’s not wait so long for the next one.

07-07-07 came and went so quickly. . .Family is everything–strength, acceptance, love, joy, shared memories, fun, laughter, hope. We rejoiced with all those who made the trip and greatly missed those who could not. There will be a “next time”.
