On our last day in Ireland, we took a train ride down to the Cliffs of Moher. On the way, we stopped at an Irish Castle.
We stopped for lunch at a pub in a small town just outside the Cliffs.
Well worth getting up before daybreak and riding a few hours on the train for the spectacular beauty of the Cliffs of Moher.
On the drive back to catch the train back to Dublin, we stopped at a unique topographical area. It was barren, cracked and dry, but right next to the sea. In fact, the Irish call it simply “The Burren” which translates to “the stony place.” Recall, that the Irish like to use completely literal names for their country. Cromwell once described the area: ” A country where there is not water enough to drown a man; no tree to hang a man, and not enough earth to bury a man.”
