This weekend we went to Macy’s annual Pink Pig train ride. It’s been a holiday tradition in Atlanta for years beginning back in the ’50s when Macy’s was downtown. I don’t really understand why but, hey, the kids got to ride a train that looks like a pink pig–that’s really all they needed to know. They each got stickers that said they rode the pink pig and both wore them proudly to preschool the next day. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t let Ruth ride on the pink pig with Tommy strapped to her. They told her she would have to put Tommy in the seat next to her or get off the ride. So I made her a sticker of her own: “I got kicked off the Pink Pig at Macy’s”
Also this weekend, our local elementary school had a little fall festival. The girls played some games and jumped some jumpies. There was also a cake walk that Chloe Jane loved. Cara didn’t fare as well. I put her in one of the chairs and once I walked away and everyone else got out of their chairs to walk around them, Cara stayed glued to her seat with her mouth beginning to turn down at the corners and her arms outstretched to me for rescue.
