We planned the last day at Disney World to be more leisurely than the previous park visits. We took in a street show and then headed to Tomorrowland.
Our first stop was Tomorrowland Speedway. Tommy loves race cars and was thrilled to be able to ride in one. He was too little to drive but that didn’t stop him from trying. He hopped right in and knew just what to do.
Next stop, we had to help Buzz Lightyear fight the evil forces of Zurg!
Then we went to one of the highest rides in the Magic Kingdom: The Orbiter
As we were leaving Tomorrowland, the kids were entertained by . . . a trashcan. We came across a robotic trash can that sang, danced and told jokes. The kids were amazed.
We then stopped for lunch.
Tommy used the down time to catch some ZZZZZZZZs.
It was hot after lunch so we did some indoor rides. We visited the Tiki Room and then I used my iPhone to switch our Fastpass+ reservation for an outdoor ride to the Pirates of the Caribbean. The wait would have been very long for this popular ride, but we were able to walk right on it with our Magic Bands. It’s been years since I’ve been on Pirates. This was the first time I’ve been on it since the movie came out. The most noticeable difference is that Johnny Depp keeps poppin’ up everywhere on the ride now.
It was still hot so the kids cooled off in the water fountains next to the Dumbo ride. Chloe Jane and Tommy were careful not to get too soaked. Not so with Cara; she was all in. We had to stop by a gift shop and get her another shirt.
The last thing we did at the Magic Kingdom was to visit Ariel in her Grotto. When we got there, the posted wait time to see her was 105 minutes. I can’t believe people would still be getting in that line! Fortunately, I had reserved a time with the Fastpass+ system and we walked right in to see her. I barely had time to change the settings on my camera before the kids were already sitting down with her.
Later, Cara told me that she had touched her “tail” and it felt like a sequin costume over legs. Chloe Jane who still wants to believe explained to Cara that that is how it feels when its out of water. Cara asked how she got there in a tail. I said maybe they transport her like they do the dolphins to the Georgia Aquarium. Maybe Disney should consider having Ariel appear with her legs like she is at the end of the movie. They’re giving the the skeptics too much to work with.
Well, we did it! We brought our three young kids to Disney for a second time. We spent four days at the parks and everyone had fun. All the advance planning made for an easier and more enjoyable time. You can see from our faces here at the end that we’re a little exhausted from the Disney vacation but proud that we were able to create magical memories for Chloe Jane, Cara and Tommy and for ourselves.
GOOD-BYE DISNEY!! M–I–C . . . SEE YOU REAL SOON! K–E–Y . . . Why? Why not; we all had so much fun!
